WADAIKO!!

How did you spend the first few days of the New Year? Did you do something special? In Japan, you can see some special events that are usually held to celebrate the New Year, and most of them are Japanese traditions. Now, I’d like to introduce you one of them.
I filmed this image by myself to show you.

WADAIKO(和太鼓)…

Wa-daiko(太鼓) means “drum” in Japanese. Outside Japan the word is often used to refer to any of the various Japanese drums(和太鼓、‘wa-daiko’, “Japanese drum”,in Japanese). It’s made by wood and cow skin.

People believe that wa-daiko was already used as the ways for communication in Jyomon are (16.500~3000 years ago).
In sengoku are (A.D.1493), the leaders of samurai used wa-daiko to lead their people.(陣太鼓‘jin-daiko’)
They also believed that the sound of wa-daiko would stimulate their heart, and make them strong, so it was an effective way to use wa-daiko as a tool for battles.
